From 1955 TEMPO built the LAND ROVER under licence. The vehicle shown is the version for the Federal Border Guard (Bundesgrenzschutz = BGS).
1955 the TEMPO-Werk Vidal & Sohn takes over the representation of LAND-ROVER for the Federal Republic of Germany. Two versions are offered: A version for the Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) and a civilian version, which is advertised for "commercial or agricultural purposes".
In 1953, two prototypes were built, and from 1955 the Tempo factory began building under licence. A total of 278 vehicles were built in two variants. Land Rover supplied the chassis, while Tempo produced the open sheet steel body.
Nothing is known about sales of the civil version.
Vidal & Sohn, which after the war could be found on all German roads with the tricycle delivery van, built very successful vans and station wagons with Matador and Wiking. Many variants were produced abroad under licence, in some cases well beyond the end of the company.
