| The four-seater Sportsman's Coupé with Weymann body, folding roof and large rear trunk was strongly promoted by Rover as early as 1928. | |||
| Description 1928: This model has an extremely attractive body in the latest design on the famous two-litre six-cylinder chassis. It is the result of a successful attempt to develop a model that is absolutely unique among British cars. It has a wonderful touch of continental chic without being eccentric in any way. The real Weymann body has room for four or even five passengers. The front seats are longitudinally adjustable, and the recesses in the floor panels have created more space for the feet of the rear passengers. A particularly interesting feature is the folding roof, which can be opened or closed in a few moments. It is not necessary to leave the car - or even stop - to manipulate the roof. The upholstery is made of genuine furniture fabric; a range of extremely attractive body colours is available. At the rear of the body is a large trunk, which is equipped with two suitcases of really reasonable size. The two doors are no less than 40 in (102.6 cm) wide and provide direct access to the rear and front seats. The windows are retractable; there is a quick lift function on the driver's side to facilitate signaling. Locks are attached to both doors. The windscreen can be opened to a horizontal position and locked in place at any intermediate angle. The whole car offers a touch of luxury and chic, making it obvious that it was built regardless of cost. Proof of this are the polished walnut decorations and expensive soft leather upholstery. It's an absolutely irresistible offer at an amazingly moderate price of £435 complete, with wire wheels fitted as standard. The performance of the two-litre six-cylinder rover with its 15.7 hp engine and overhead valves is known to be exceptionally good. In top gear, the speed range extends from less than walking speed to well over a mile per minute. Outstanding are also the phenomenally high average speeds and the wonderful driving comfort, which is mainly due to the well-damped steering wheel. A "cruising speed" of 50 mph can be maintained indefinitely at half throttle. The "Sportman's Coupe" has convinced everyone who has seen it so far, and orders are processed in strict order of receipt. | |||
