E. A. GREATHED, Esq, (late Automobile Club, Engineering Dept.), writes as follows:
„The 8 h.p. car you supplied me with has been an excellent machine; it has never in the course of 8.500 miles delayed me on the road for any mechanical trouble of any kind; in fact my only involuntary stops have been:
a) Run out of petrol four or five times; b) Accumulator trouble three times; c) One puncture and one burst tyre.
Three out of the original covers are still in use; they have been re-treaded, and look good for considerable mileage yet; the other, the off rear tyre, has run 4,063 miles, and is not ready re-treading yet.
Neither has the car required overhaul, all the shop work being re-packing pump glan three times and adjusting clutch three or four times (I have slipped it no end in traffic). The car was taken down last May and examined, and the Examining Engineer reported that he had never come across a car that had run 5,000 miles in SUCH PERFECT INTERNAL CONDITION.
If at any time any enquirers in the North of England or in Scotland wish for information, I shall be most happy to tell them of the excellent running of the little „no trouble“ car, which has been such a source of pleasure to me since the end of June, 1905. Since then I have had the car in constant use. I think your Company can be proud of a vehicle that can accomplish a performance like this.
If you care to use this letter or any part of it, please do so, and I can only add that I have absolutely no interest in the Rover Company, finacially or otherwise - I wish I had!“ |
