Shown is the ROVER 12hp as Station Cab, model year 1907/1908.
Already in the middle of 1907, ROVER finished the chassis for the so-called 12hp "Cab - Model": On a modified and somewhat wider chassis, different cars with open driver's seat and rear passenger cabin could be produced. The vehicles are offered by the company R.M.C Syndicate Limited, which has acquired the exclusive distribution rights.
Two versions of the "Motor-Cab" are shown in the illustrations: on the one hand, the "Station Cab" model. As can be seen in the upper illustration, the passenger cabin is generously glazed and the fixed roof is designed to accommodate luggage. Certainly ideal as a taxi with a location at the station or as a means of transport for a hotel.
The alternative version is simply called "Motor Cab". The pictures below show that the glazing is simpler. On the other hand, the roof can be folded down like a Landau, and the front of the cabin protects against the wind. The car would probably be particularly suitable for taxi service as a replacement for the horse-drawn taxi - and perhaps even for city tours.
It is not entirely clear whether the different depiction of the front wings is intentional or due to the draughtsman's artistic freedom.
When listing the specifications, particular reference is made to the advantages of the 12hp Cab as a fleet vehicle, with special emphasis on the easy interchangeability of the drive modules.
According to the available documents, the models were not accepted by the market, especially after the bankruptcy of the R.M.C. Syndicate. Anyone who has further information, please make it available for publication.
