Successor
From 1934 the
14hp 'Speed Pilot'
becomes the
'Speed Fourteen'.
The 14 h.p. Speed Model has been designed to meet the popular demand for a car of moderate power with outstanding acceleration and capable of high speeds.
In the 1,000 miles R.A.C. Hastings Rally, Rover Speed Pilots entered in Class 2, thoroughly justified themselves, winning prizes for performance, giving fastest times on acceleration and also winning Starting Point Prizes.
In addition, the Coupé was awarded the championship prize for Coachwork in Class 2 and 1st prize in Class 2, classification 4b, whilst in a Road Test carried out by The Autocar - published in their issue of April 7th - a Rover Speed Pilot with four-seater body, attained a speed of 77 m.p.h. and occupied only 12 4/5 seconds to reach 50 m.p.h.
In Coupe form the Speed Pilot will appeal to the motorist desiring a car that combines attractive appearance and comfortable accommodation for four persons with full length leg room.
It has two wide doors providing easy access. The interior is upholstered in hide to the following choice of colours: Blue, Maroon, Green or Brown and a wide range of exterior colour finishes are available.
The 'Speed Pilot' engine is flexibly mounted in the chassis and is fitted with the well-known Free-wheel and Clutchless Gear Change.
